When a bill opposed by more than 90% of citizens passes in parliament by more than 70%, it means that parliament no longer represents the interests of the people.

After the debacle of Finance Bill 2023, Kenya citizens are now de facto sovereign – meaning that they are no longer delegating their sovereignty to parliament or executive.

In simple terms, this means the 16% Fuel Tax & Housing Tax is only biding to the MPs who voted YES – in their individual capacities – and the Executive official who signed it, in his individual capacity.

If an entity deducts Housing Tax from a worker, then that entity has stolen the money, and laws regarding theft must eventually apply.

If an entity forces oil companies to implement 16% fuel tax, then that entity has stolen the money from consumers buying fuel, and laws regarding theft must eventually apply.
